description: How to open a document someone shared with you in Markloop, leave comments and reply.

## Open the document

You don't need to install anything. Markloop runs in your browser.

- **A link:** open it. You don't need an account.
- **An email invitation:** follow the link in the email and create an account with that address. You then land in the project you were invited to and see its documents.

Reviewing is free. You never need a paid account to read or comment.

1. Click **Comment** at the bottom right of the document, or press C. Comment mode is on.
2. Click the part of the document you want to comment on, such as a heading, a paragraph or a table cell. To comment on specific words, select them instead.
3. Write your note.
4. Click **Comment**, or press ⌘+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows).

Press Esc or click **Comment** again to leave comment mode.

On a computer you can also select text at any time, without comment mode, and click **Comment on selection**.

The first time you comment through a public link, Markloop asks for your name so the author knows who wrote the comment. Your name is saved in that browser for that link, so you enter it only once.

## Reply and follow the discussion

Each comment shows as a numbered pin in the document. Click a pin, or open the **Comments** panel, to read the thread and reply.

If you were invited by email, you also get an email summary when others comment on the project's documents. To turn it off, open **Settings** > **Profile** and switch off **Comment summaries**.

## What you can and can't do

On a public link you can comment and reply. You can't edit or delete comments, and you can't resolve threads; the author does that.

With an invitation you can also edit or delete your own comments and resolve threads you started.

Comments don't change the document. The author, usually with an AI agent, works through them and publishes a fixed version at the same link. If you were invited and have the document open at that moment, a banner offers **See latest**. On a public link, reload the page to see the new version.

## On a phone

Tap **Comment**, then tap a passage. You can also select text with your finger and tap **Comment on selection**, which replaces the Comment button while text is selected. Tap **Done** to leave comment mode.

## Print or save as PDF

Use the print button (**Print / save as PDF**) in the bar above the document. Comments don't appear in the printout.

## If the document doesn't open

- **"Link expired or no longer valid":** the link was turned off or has expired. Ask the sender for a new one.
- **"This link has expired"** or **"This document is unavailable":** the workspace that shared the document no longer has access to Markloop. Contact the sender.
